PMAA, Inc. seal, est. 1967 PMAA, Inc.Professional Management Advisors Associates

A project’s schedule, its people and its license to operate all depend on the safety professional in the field. When a crew mobilizes on a substation, a utility-scale solar build, a battery storage site or a plant outage, the owner and the contractor need someone who has run that kind of site before and can hold the line on safety from day one. PMAA, Inc. recruits site safety, HSE and EHS professionals for construction, power generation, renewable, energy storage, utility and data center employers across the United States.

Send us the job description and we’ll have qualified candidates in your inbox within 24–48 hours.

HSE, Site Safety and Electrical Safety

  • HSE and EHS programs: the people who build and run the safety, health and environmental program for a company, a region or a fleet: written programs, training, audits, incident investigation and corrective action, metrics and regulatory compliance.
  • Site safety: the people in the field every day: site orientations, job hazard analyses, toolbox talks and safety meetings, inspections and observations, permits, and coordinating subcontractors and field supervision so the crew goes home safe.
  • Electrical safety: the specialists for the hazard that defines energy work. See the next section.

Electrical Safety: Construction, Power Generation and Utilities

Electrical work is where a safety professional’s own experience matters most. We recruit electrical safety people who have worked around the voltages, the equipment and the procedures on your kind of site, not only in a classroom.

  • Electrical construction: safety for electrical contractors and EPCs building substations, transmission and distribution lines, utility-scale solar and wind collection systems, battery energy storage and data centers: energized and de-energized work, MV trenching and cable pulls, inverter, transformer and switchgear setting, crane and lifting operations around energized equipment, and temporary power.
  • Power generation: plant electrical safety programs, NFPA 70E and arc flash programs, lockout / tagout and energy isolation for outages and maintenance shutdowns, switchyard access, and contractor safety during outages.
  • Utilities: transmission, distribution and substation safety: switching and clearance procedures, minimum approach distances, grounding, live-line and line clearance work, and OSHA 1910.269 and 1926 Subpart V.
  • Medium and high voltage: candidates with personal, hands-on medium and high voltage experience, the requirement employers name most often for electrical construction and substation safety roles.
  • Programs and training: electrical safety program managers who write and audit NFPA 70E programs, run arc flash risk assessments and labeling, manage energized work permits, and train and qualify electrical workers.

Certifications our electrical safety candidates hold, depending on the role: NFPA 70E training and qualified electrical worker status, CESCP (Certified Electrical Safety Compliance Professional), CUSP (Certified Utility Safety Professional), OSHA 30 and OSHA 500 / 510 (authorized outreach trainer), CHST, OHST, STS, ASP and CSP, along with electrical trade backgrounds such as journeyman or master electrician, lineman and substation or relay technician.

Where They Work

What We Screen For

Safety candidates are interviewed by recruiters who know the field: the types of sites they have covered and the size of the crews, the hazards they have managed (excavations, energized electrical work and medium and high voltage, crane and lifting operations, confined space, fall protection), how they run job hazard analyses, toolbox talks and site orientations, how they handle incident investigation and corrective action, and the credentials they hold, such as OSHA 30 and OSHA 500 / 510, CHST, OHST, STS, ASP and CSP, CUSP and CESCP, and NFPA 70E. Electrical safety candidates are also asked about the voltage classes they have worked around and the switching, clearance and energized work procedures they have run. Then every candidate goes through The Proven Vetting Process™; only the strongest 2–3% are ever submitted to a client.
